YEAAHHHAHAAAAAAAA THIS IS ABOSUTELY SICK

Bassclefff responds:

Thank you!!!

This is badass. I like the riff on the first verse, and nice job with the meaty tone of the guitar. The mix is already decent, but it sounds dry. But if you wanted to make it sound fatter or more glued together you could use a compressor on the drums with a short attack, it'd make them punchier and have more tight dynamics if you wanted it to sound more impactful.

I'd also recommend putting a subtle reverb in certain instruments just to fill up space, for example a low volume reverb with short decay on the drums to simulate being in the room with the drums, and putting a reverb with low volume but long decay on the guitar could fill up the empty background, especially with a compressor on the whole thing keeping everything together. Just putting little details like that, although maybe not what you're looking for, could make the mix a bit better.

Nitrocore responds:

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, I really appreciate it.

The mixing advice is really helpfully as well, it's something I want to get better at eventually, although it could end up being my White Whale.

The riff actually came first then I built everything on top of it, I'm glad you liked it.

There's some nice melodies in here! I like the change of vibe at 1:18, and the new aggressive beat that comes in. Though the whole song sounds a bit over-compressed, and it's really noticeable at parts with a few instruments like in the intro when the reverb starts fading in, and at 2:30 the volume of the reverb even feels a bit chaotic. Nice job with the variation and the harmony though.

Super-shape responds:

thanks for the feedback! to answer your questions, the reason why some of the instruments sound so compressed and the reverb sounds so jank in some sections is because i was working with fruity soundfont player (you can see in the description which games the soundfonts i used were from), and basically i played around a bit with increasing the release time, which i am aware sounds a bit awkward (which makes sense considering fruity soundfont player is a rather old and not very well supported plugin), but i tried my best to keep it hidden by using equalizers and extra reverb effect plugins n stuff (which i think mightve made the mixing worse but idk since this was my first attempt at using an equalizer to try and make one of my tracks sound better). also, since those sounds i was using originated from games on old nintendo handhelds, obviously they'll sound a bit compressed, and there's not much i can really do about that, so i kinda just have to play it off as if it's an aesthetic choice. regardless, thx :)

Man, this has a lot of emotion! It sounds very out there and distinct, I like some of the weird choices with the composition like the oriental intro, the kazoo, the half-connected speaker sound in the outro. Little nitpick, the guitar that comes in at 2:09 and at 4:10 is a bit too loud and could use less distortion. But other than that, I love this!

ArtificialParadise responds:

Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback. Hoping to finish an entire album and out this on it with some touch ups, so I'll definitely take this into account!

soothing heckin' chune my dude

SomebodysHero responds:

Thanks a bunch!

Groovy heckin' drop. The mixing is mostly okay, although I hear some odd bumps in the sub bass on the drop which I'm not sure if they come from the deep sawey bass; they specifically occur right before every second snare.

The chord progression, while pretty alright, gets kinda old and repetitive after 3 minutes, and it doesn't help the sounds used throughout are pretty similar so there's not much feeling of development or evolution. Alhough it's understandable with your new song everyday thing (props on 11 days btw), maybe you could try developing a progression or melody more in one of your next songs?

IMO just trying to vary your choices of sound and melody more as a tune progresses can go long ways into improving the quality of your tracks, just a tip. Nice job on this!

im-leia responds:

Thank you! Definitely something to aim for.

The drone sounds are really interesting, could maybe use 'em for a dark D&B track or something. And props on the progression too, adding or changing things up every 4 bars. In a more subjective note though I kinda feel the track is a bit too short. This track only has one... peak? chorus? drop?, which I feel doesn't quite justify the 1 minute long intro and build up.

I'd instead try to keep the intro and build up at about 30 seconds or so if the track's gonna be short, get to the point. BUT if you feel the length is fine then sure go for it. One little other thing I wanna point out is that some reverb sounds are very mono, more noticeably the clicky lead that comes in at 0:44. I'd personally widen the effect, make it more stereo so it surrounds the listener, it's a cool effect.

Props on the sound design though, it gives a mysterious and dark feeling which I assume is what you aimed for. Did you do the sounds yourself or did you use presets? Because I'd be impressed if it's the former. Neat track tho, nicely done.

AveonMusic responds:

Thank you for your feedback. Still kind of new to dark techno, so might explain the lack of... everything. Anywho, thank you, will try to vary more next time :)

Yeah this is pretty nice. Maybe the kick and bass could be mixed together better but it's still decent.

cmonster responds:

thanks a bunch yo

This is beautiful. Really got nothing else to say, maybe some more instrumentation would make it an experience to listen to. But it's amazing as it is. You're really talented.

MishkoLalko responds:

I'm very pleased ^^ /// thanks :3

Pretty freakin' good. The saws have a kind of impact I like from synthwave. You really pulled that aesthetic vibe off. It gets repetitive rather quickly though with only slight changes to the main beat, and I ended up tuning out about halfway through for about an entire minute. I'm no synthwave enthusiast though, so It's probably supposed to be repetitive I think? Overall pretty freakin' good.

Twistedzillax responds:

Im new to synthwave, but yeah synthwave can be repetitive to have a more long drive type
feel (to me)
Thank you for support though! :D

Least consistent producer in town. Everything's free to use and download, do anything you want. (Yes, GD too.)
